Providing Solaris 10 and Redhat Enterprise Linux physical and virtual server builds per prescribed configurations. Supported and migrated a number of high profile web sites and applications including harcourtschool.com, ged21stcentury.com, corporate.classroom.com, eschoolonline.com and thinkcentral.com to name a few. Providing third level unix and application support for unix platforms.

Provided Unix and web hosting administration and programming services to client Harcourt Inc.. Solutions include supporting Solaris and Linux web servers using Apache and Netscape I-Planet web server software, implementing OpenSSH and enterprise monitoring using tools such as: Nagios, Perl and UCD-SNMP. Also assisted with E-Commerce conversion from Transact 4 to Microsoft .NET as well as internally created Java applications. Wrote several Perl scripts to assist in that conversion. Also implemented and support Cisco 11500 Content Services Switch.

Provide highly available support for fifty AIX servers from deskside to H/M80 class servers in a 24 x 7 ISO 9002 certified corporate technical center environment. Solutions I have provided include correcting problems in the corporate website order taking process (Perl coding), making recommendations and enhancing security in corporate website, assisting in troubleshooting SAP R/3 disconnect issues, assist in troubleshooting IBM SecureWay Firewall software issues, bringing system software levels up to current fix revisions (AIX 4.3.3) and am currently working on enhancing the monitoring and notification infrastructures using tools like Netsaint, various GNU and Open Source SNMP and monitoring tools as well as in-house written Perl and shell scripts. Support duties include AIX, HACMP, IBM HTTPServer (Apache), IBM SecureWay Firewall, SAP R3, DB2 and DB2 Connect, ESCON Connection, Tivoli Storage Manager Client (ADSM), WebSphere, DNS and Sendmail. Supported several high profile company web sites including timberland sales and commerce sites.

Manage the unix operation of a startup Competitive Local Exchange Carrier. Confer with I.T. Director and department managers to define problems and devise solutions. To make recommendations concerning I.T. policies and procedures. Establish multi-millon dollar departmental budget. Oversee and coordinate implementation of a 28 node Operation Support Systems (OSS), billing, Telecommunications Network Element Manager (EMS) , network and host monitoring automated Solaris environment utlizing the following technologies: EMC Symmetrix Enterprise Storage System, Veritas NetBackup, Veritas Foundation Suite, Veritas Cluster Server, HP OpenView Network Node Manager and BMC Patrol. This environment supports the Lucent PathStar class V, and Sonus class IV switches as well as corporate web and intranet, electronic mail, DHCP, DNS and SCO Tarantella services.

Design, configure and support numerous Sun, IBM RS/6000 AIX & SP2, Digital/Compaq Alpha and Digital VAX server systems in a highly available 24 x 7 service bureau environment. IBM OnDemand, ADSM and DB2 support. Providing Internet support for Firewall Tool Kit, Domain Name Service, Apache world wide web proxy and Sendmail as well as support for the company web site. Responsible for security and monitoring infrastructure and compliance.

Maintaining 100+ PC and Macintosh TCP/IP, multi-location network utilizing Sun Sparc servers, Sun, SGI, DEC, Linux, Windows 3.x/95/NT and SCO workstations and various VAX computers. Responsible for supervising support staff, making necessary changes to UNIX and Windows workstations and writing programs and scripts as needed by computer support group. Providing computer administration and support for software development lab. AIS Information Security Officer and Information Systems Security Representative to the DoD Defense Investigative Service (DIS). Providing Internet consulting as needed. Phone system and ccMail administrator.

Free lance software and systems support and consultation. Application development using Visual Basic, Perl and C languages.

Provided programming services for client sites including COBOL and systems programming for real-time cellular fraud-detection system (GTE Information Services) and mortgage banking applications (FISERV). Worked on the industry fraud cellular "negative" list logic for call roamers daily file for cell switch sites.

Provided network hardware and software support for large store-to-factory modem system primarily in the COBOL language utilizing the NCR 9800 VRX/E. Programmed POS credit card machines for end of day reporting from stores.

Supervised and directed the activities and projects of the application programming staff and also performed all system programming (COBOL, DCL, DEC/FMS, MACRO-32), software installation, testing and integration.

Responsible for managing VAX computer operations staff, planning operating budget, system design, performance tuning, and providing technical expertise for the Information Services Department.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS:

* Migrated a large mostly undocumented web and application elearning environment hosted in a co-located hosting facility with completely remote access and remote hands access to a company data center employing load balancing and service redundancy all under a tight time constraint of 6 months prior to facility lease expiration.
* Migrated fifty-five unix servers and assorted applications to a Solaris zoned virtual environment using only 10 physical servers.
* Deployed a large scale commerce platform using IBM WebSphere and IBM Commerce (V6) modules for a well known publisher (Harcourt School Parentstore).
* Deployed a scaled Java commerce solution using Linux and open source software.

* Installed two complex OnDemand systems using high-speed connectivity, high-availability, optical jukebox archival, dual-redundant IBM SSA disk storage technology, cdrom creation, fax transmission and Internet connectivity. Two year project for both systems.
* Wrote automated monitoring scripts for OnDemand infrastructure

* Wrote a complete monitoring system utilizing awk and shell scripts on a Sun unix server to remotely monitor Compaq Alpha production servers running OpenVMS. Received a "Spotlighting Employee Excellence" award for this work.
* sendmail.cf Sendmail configuration file conversions and maintenance.
* Implemented several high-availability projects involving multiple networks and media and storage strategies with complete automated failover of applications and networks in under 5 minutes time.
* Implemented complete conversion from DEC CMS/MMS source code control system to SCO/NT based using PVCS.
* Installed two Compaq Alpha 4100 production servers utilizing the Wizard Cable Billing product and the following layered products: Digital C, Oracle RDB, Tuxedo, Digital VAXset, Digital COBOL, Digital Ultrix Connection UCX and DEC Message Queue running over OpenVMS 6.2 and using Digital Storage Works storage shelves.
* Implemented Veritas Volume Manager on several Sun Ultra-Enterprise servers attached to RSM-2000 (now A3000).
* Installed Apache, GNU C and Perl 5 on numerous machines.
* Implemented a company wide intranet.
* Improved performance on NFS file server by upgrading server, upgrading network to a switch and 100MB ethernet using Veritas Quick I/O and NFS caching.
* Industrial Security Officer administrating classified processing. Inspecting and certifying equipment for tampering. Verify compliance to US DoDSI guidelines and MOA's.Operating under US Secret clearance during this time.
* Corporate security officer providing support for data integrity and protection including but no limited to virus scanning, firewall implementation and establishing unix server security procedures.

I have been a volunteer with the Volusia County Amateur Radio Emergency Communication Service since 2002 and worked through hurricanes that struck Florida's east coast in 2004 and 2005.

I regularly sponsor geek gatherings and lunches throughout the Central Florida area to share knowledge and also for networking.
